Bangernomics the Book
I originally wrote this back in 1993 as a manifesto for back to basics used car motoring. It has long since sold out and anyway it needed updating. So I have done that plus revised my views on Bangernomics to include most cars just out of warranty. It was an eccentric publication which is A4 sized with lots of silly drawings and each one was stupidly produced by hand. I have now decided to put the book on a disc as a couple of pdf files and extras as they say in the multimedia world, features from newspapers, websites and magazines. It costs just £4.99 including postage. Incidentally I am writing a sort of follow up and that will be in proper book format, but it will cost more and at the moment it is at least six months away.
Other places to talk and read about Bangernomics include http://cars.uk.msn.com/ and also for those who take their used cars really seriously http://bangernomics.editboard.com There is another Bangernomics site run by Richard Hall which is very interesting www.bangernomics.tripod.com
The Bangernomics Code
Bangernomics contrasts the absurd expense of buying new with the supreme good sense of buying used. Bangernomics will show the mechanically bewildered how to buy a safe durable car and save loads of money. Bangernomics is all about motoring at the blunt end. Bangernomics means never being fussy about what you drive. Bangernomics is a way of life but always beware of the dog.
James Ruppert .co.uk is somewhere else you can take a look at what is going on plus read about Spencer Haze an online graphic novel that was around long before Life on Mars.
http://www.usedcarexpert.com You will find car reviews that I have written on this site. Plus free buying guides which can help you spot what goes wrong.
Flyscreen Queen is the place to buy fly screens that keep all those horrible things like spiders, wasps and flies out of your home or business all year round.
Hello, my name is James Ruppert and a warm welcome to the true home of Bangernomics. Now Bangernomics made lots of sense when I wrote it back in 1993 when the world was last running on empty and its time has certainly come again. I always knew that owning a car did not need to be that expensive and the biggest single cost is always depreciation. Buying an older and much cheaper car is the simplest way to save money. The great news is that you can now get so much more of a car for your money, which are now more reliable and rust proof than ever before. That means you can buy some great value hatchbacks, luxury saloons, 4 x 4s and basically anything you fancy for far less than you though and also run them for less too. Read the code further down the page for a more concise explanation of what I am droning on about. I have included lots of model guides here and lots of features I have written about Bangernomics over the years. Any questions or comments? Then email me at james@bangernomics.com
It has taken a bit longer than I thought it would but my new book is almost here. It is the true story of what happened to the British Car Industry from 1945 until it effectively ended with the implosion of MG Rover in 2005. It occurred to me that my Dads car owning, driving and buying history (from a Triumph Mayflower to a VW Golf) was a great way of injecting some social history into it all. I also wondered whether his decision in the 1970s to buy an Audi triggered the downfall, or was it the inept motor industry management, stupid commie unions or meddling governments. I think we know the answer, but it is fun finding out and there some good stories along the way. There are also tons of very small black and white pictures of cars and people from the era, plus all the cars that my Dad bought. Essentially you do not need to be a petrolhead to enjoy it, so buy it for your mum or uncle for Christmas.
Car Insurance is Boring, but when you want to make a claim suddenly it will become the most fascinating subject in the world. Before that happens take the time to read what I have written on the subject: How to Claim on your Insurance Policy. A very snappy title but getting the right car insurance cover, which is also the best value is a core part of the Bangernomics ethos. Thats why I use Go Compare.com for just about every important car related purchase these days.
